Interference
my family inferred (to a certain degree)
that nothing was wrong with me
their constant words of reassurance
told me so
-- my dearest Rosé

yet i knew that something was
wrong, i couldn't explain exactly
what it was, but i knew my inference
was right
-- certainly, a rose

i thought and thought
and kept on thinking
until an inference came to me
that some inference (only some)
can be wrong
-- how fortunate

Changeling
you lay at the feet
of may's adversity; digressing the
solution of differential
equations to finite doldrums
seeking to fill time

you were thinking of
purchasing cookies enveloped
with a technical, powder blue
wrapper
--
i look like a beached whale

scooping up blood and teeth
spurting lines from nursing textbooks
--
gee, what makes me so special

you look for more reasons
to say
-- i'm fine, i fondly remember
the time when
-- no, i don't feel fine
and actually

i don't know when the next asteroid
will glide over the Indian Ocean

and i really don't know the next time
i'll be fine
